In the age of information technology, the popularity of mobile Internet technologies has recently increased exponentially. This is largely because it gives flexibilities to access e-commerce systems on demand. Today e-commerce is considered as the driver of any nation’s economy as it opens tremendous opportunity all over the globe. In another words, e-commerce plays a fundamental role in promoting economic progression of a country and delivers the products and services to the customers electronically. Hence, this paper analyses the challenges and opportunities of e-commerce in Bangladesh. It discusses the success of e-commerce in Small to Midsized Enterprise-SMEs of Bangladesh and gives a reliable assessment of Bangladesh’s present e-commerce infrastructure and its future organizational structure. This paper also analyses the data that was collected from Bangladeshi government and non government organisations. It gathers answers from IT experts, IT students and academics as the respondents’ through interview. The study found that e-commerce is steadily transforming the way businesses to be conducted and changing the business environment. E-commerce can provide speedier, faster and reliable services to the customers for which they are relatively happy. E-commerce services not only can develop new competitive advantages, it can improve its relationships with customers. As a developing country, Bangladesh is not well known about e-commerce sector. As a result this paper also overviews the issues associated with e-commerce-cybercrime and try to explore the future challenges and prospect in Bangladesh. It also shows how to reach Digital Bangladesh.
