War has indeed caused immeasurable damage to the entire world; there is no aspect or sphere of life that is not affected by war. War involves the killing of innocent people; it works against the fact that life is sacred; it is not capable of achieving political and social goals; it risks the human race future; and it is a violation of established international laws. Since the start of the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the early 2000s, there have been a number of wars/armed conflict in the continent of Africa; as a matter of fact, some are ongoing. With this trend in the continent of Africa, it is regrettable that the targets of the eight goals of the MDGs are unlikely to be met by 2015 as expected by the United Nations. This paper analyses the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); it gives a conceptual and theoretical explanations of the concept of war; it highlights the impacts of War on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the African continent; and the paper concludes suggesting that parties to war in African countries where wars are ongoing should cease fire and focus on the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015 and African countries that are peaceful should do same and do everything possible to avoid their countries engaging in internal or external wars.
