Farmers’ suicides do have a positive correlation with amount of loans outstanding as well as with percentage of agricultural loans to total loans which shows that farmers’ suicides have been higher in those states where agricultural loans are comparatively higher as are also loans outstanding. For farmers’ it is not just the economic factors which are responsible for farmers’ suicide but equally important are other socio cultural factors. The greater the support from friends, family, local communities, national policies and society as a whole, the less impact stress will have on individuals and families.
