Nalanda University, one of the oldest ancient higher-learning institutions, was constructed in the fifth century. Its scale and achievement on academic field was the first-rate at that time in the world. This ancient higher-learning institution is located in Bihar, India. The site is located about 88 kilometers southeast of Patna, capital of Bihar, and was a religious centre of learning from the fifth century AD to 1197 AD. The complex was built with red bricks and its ruins occupy an area of 14 hectares. At its peak, the university attracted scholars and students from as far away as Tibet, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Greece, Turkey and Greater Iran by its reputation. Nalanda was one of the world’s first residential universities as it had dormitories for students. In its heyday, it accommodated over 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers. The famous and outstanding Chinese monks Master Xuanzang and Master Yijing during the Tang Dynasty studied at here. Nalanda University got the best facility, faculty, student, and administration. Besides studied Buddhism philosophy, the students learned Veda, logic, grammar and composition, medicine, arts, astronomy, and mathematics too. Nalanda University follows the teaching idea of Lord Buddha, spills the Buddhism fragrant. Because Nalanda University is abundant of Buddhist thought of humanity and education, the authors developed the exquisite teaching materials and used in the general education curriculum of university. The self rating scale and questionnaire was used to collect the learning effectiveness and opinions of the students, the result showed that the learners got very good response.
