The paper tells us about Georgian-German cultural and literary relations, and focuses on one of the German scholars, Arthur Leist, who dedicated his life to Kartvelian (Georgian) studies. Every cultural epoch reevaluates the merit of particular people, in order to realize one more time their merit, taking into consideration time and values. More than a century has passed since Arthur Leist`s work. His goal was to study the culture of a small nation and share it with the Europeans, and he dedicated all his life to the fulfillment of the mission. Time did not cast a shadow over his work, but revealed it with even more power, and his main message to Europe that Georgian people have a desire and readiness to combine their civilization achievements with the similar activities of the Europeans, is still of vital importance.
