ABSTRACT
This paper concentrates on the current vision of relationships between immigrant minorities and Americans, as observed by the Polish radio correspondent Marek Walkuski who has spent several years in the USA and is the author of two books entitled: Walkowanie Ameryki and Ameryka po kawalku. The author focuses in those texts on his personal experiences introducing at the same time both the psychological and historical portrait of Polish minority in the past and present, as well as the social and cultural factors which determine their life in the twenty-first century America. The paper analyses multicultural aspects of immigrants’ life in the new country, showing both the positive and difficult aspects of assimilation within unknown reality. The author presents the relationships between Poles and Americans in terms of their origin, culture, habits and hopes in the modern world. Moreover, the paper focuses on the analysis of stereotypes of Polish minority being present in American society and its influence on the citizenship. It is a comparative study of the past and current generation of Poles who try to find their own individual path in America.
