Using theoretical research methods, the publication describes the psychological, sociological and pedagogical aspects of the development and promotion of youth civic engagement. Civic society’s successful existence and development are based on knowledgeable and capability of action people who are able to agree to overcome a common challenge, combining their available resources. Thus civic participation gains special importance in the promotion of civic society. Promoting the formation of civic competence through civic education provides a contribution of young people’s civic involvement in an effective and targeted way through being conscious of the social environment challenges. As a result, through implementing civic competence based on the formation of civic education, the student can become capable to act, civically responsible, competent, confident and active creator of social processes with a high sense of responsibility: a person who is not indifferent to the surrounding social environment.
