Globalizing trends have impacted primary, secondary and post-secondary levels of education like never before. In order to appreciate the impact of this, establishing an educational community is the foundation of forming the connection between the student and the environment in which he/she lives, learns and develops. Aside from the underlying economic, cultural and social influences that accompany globalization, there is an educational mind-share that occurs amidst educators from across the globe, to discuss, debate, share and implement new strategies to build community and therefore, involve families and community members more intimately with student life. This enables educators to implement new instructional methods and it gives administrators new insights as to our how to establish funding priorities in order to achieve these community based learning objectives. Centered on this is the ability for educators and administrators to foster a broader sense of community in order to deepen a student’s understanding of curricula and have this translate into improved student achievement.
