The decisions that affect the location of logistics centers represent a comprehensive process, determined by a number of factors of various severity. These decisions should be made in a rational and well-thought way, because good location has a critical effect on transportation and inventory costs reduction as well as on improved efficiency of customer service. Detailed analysis of all location factors is one of the most important stages in the decision-making process, which is designed to identify solution of the problem relating to the development of logistics centers in the future. This paper discusses the criteria of the location of logistics centers. Location determinants were identified, which included both quantitative factors, such as costs, and qualitative factors. Location models of the logistic centers were also described. Adaptation of a logistic center to tasks which constitute the function of the specific area with reference to the recipients present in this area represents an important problem. This relationship is strongly associated with the economic aspects of construction of the center. Development of the components of the location model is aimed at initial estimation of cost-effectiveness for a specific type of the center in the area. Depending on the needs and circumstances, implementers of such investments are able to choose a model or a method to support decision-making processes.
