Green Banking has been a subject matter of banking industry that also has turned to be an integral part of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Commercial Banks being important partner of financing industrial development has an important role to play in order to convert environmentally polluted industrial economy into green industrial economy. Accordingly, Bangladesh Bank has promulgated a guideline of ‘Green Banking for Commercial Banks’ operation in Bangladesh. So, every Scheduled Commercial Bank has to practice green banking guideline in each and every program from general banking to financing industrial enterprises. Researchers have attempted to examine the compliance of GB guidelines on the part of Commercial Banks and to identify the problems and causes of deviation in GB practices. To accomplish this, the researchers have selected 70 managers (2 NCBs and 5 PCBs) out of 56 commercial Banks randomly. Researchers have collected opinions of 61 managers through structured questionnaire successfully. The study has used descriptive measure for analyzing and interpreting data. The findings and policy implications of this study are expected to guide Bangladesh Bank in re-shaping green banking guidelines and to enable CBs in contributing towards green industrial economy as a SDGs of Bangladesh through green banking practices.
