This qualitative research aims to study outcomes of the training program for nurses on humanized care paradigm shift. Nineteen nurses were selected to participate in this study. Data collection comprises a series of in-depth interviews and field notes and was conducted between March 30 and June 31, 2011. The study found a degree of attitudinal changes and improved performance in the participants. Regarding the attitudinal changes, the nurses were found to become more open-minded and unprejudiced, considerate and understanding to the life context of the patients. On the improved performance facet, the nurses were found to provide more flexible services, behave more responsively to the needs of the patients, as well as show more enthusiasm in trying to offer the services in a humanized manner. One of the expected benefits of this research is to shape attitudes of public health officers in providing health services and to help them understand the patients’ needs better. Rather performing the public health services duty on functional and technical ground, the health officers are expected to take into consideration the emotions of the patients in their service delivery, while maintain the service efficiency.
