This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of hospitality internships by examining how student interns’ proactive behaviors (information-seeking, feedback-seeking, positive framing, and relationship building) affect socialization learning. Based on a survey sample of 169 students who enrolled in 6-month or 1-year hospitality internships, data were collected after they completed the internship. The study used quantitative analysis to test hypotheses. The results suggested that proactive behaviors were all positively related to socialization learning; except feedback-seeking, were positively related to interns’ role clarity as well. Of these behaviors, relationship-building and information-seeking were the most influential factors in determining interns’ overall learning and role clarity.
