This study examines credit card usage behaviours of women with different education levels. According to the results of the study it is established that most women own a single credit card; as their level of education increases so does the rate of owning 3 or more credit cards; the majority uses their credit card each time they shop; specifically women with a university or postgraduate education report a higher rate of using their credit card each time they shop. It is determined that women use their credit cards mostly to buy clothes, food and cosmetic/personal care products, their main reason for using a credit card is because it enables “being able to pay when there isn’t any cash”. One of the main problems women face when using a credit card is high interest rates. The study establishes that the rate of women using a credit card for online shopping is low but increases as the level of education increases. The study concludes that the majority of women pay their entire credit card debt on time.
