The rationale that gave rise to the Republic of India has withstood over sixty-five years of unmet targets, unplanned growth and untapped potential. A confluence of cultures and cradle of civilization; a country that has nurtured great minds like Aryabhatta, Ramanujam, Jagdishchandra Bose, Homi Bhabha, Mahatma Gandhi; the list goes on. Many of India’s unsung heroes have yet to surface into the limelight. Yet, this vast country with immense potential, a wealth of resources and bountiful nature has moved onwards with steps that have been detrimental to a positive future. Our spiritual wealth has failed to kindle the spark of reverence for creation and our villages have failed to grow at the rate at which urban agglomerations have mushroomed, leading to metros that are pressurized with problems of slums, pollution, lack of health facilities, impure water and so much more. The sprawling concrete jungles stretch beleaguringly beneath polluted skylines that bespeak of the price that unplanned urbanization extracts from human life. Our wealth is diverted to the perennial skirmishes in Kashmir and the borders and the areas that require key focus shrink into a background that holds too many ills that plague the Nation.
