The continuity of the Butonese maritime tradition until nowadays is an important cultural force to be examined. Not only because of its historical background, but also because it can be a source of life values for the people in laying out their future. This tradition has surpassed beyond ages and generations, with all its challenges, has upheld the Butonese as maritime tribes in Indonesia. This paper will outline the economic system in the practice of traditional cruise of the Butonese which still survives today. The traditional gob economic system with the business models namely; barter, vracht, buy (a joint capital and commissions), and salaries. After finished sailing, sailors set the pattern of the sharing system whether it is profit sharing or, in a certain condition, loss sharing. This economic system is the basis to strengthen the local economy (of the gobs) on the islands as part of the culture of the maritime community in Indonesia.
