Since one of the most popular Korean animation ’Pororo’ had been released, productions of Korean animation target under 7-year-old children. According to Korean Content Industry Prospect 2014, contents were divided into segmented markets, especially as ultra-niche market. In addition, recent contents for young children targeted specific generation. Experts predicted contents for ultra-niche markets will keep increasing. This study was to ascertain animation preference of young children. The young children were categorized by age (4, 5, and 6 years old) and gender (male and female). The method of this study was to review past research and analyze the data of animation viewing rate on television for children’s preference of animation. For the viewing rate, I requested the data to Korean TV rating report agency, TNMS, separating each age and gender. As a result, each age and gender of children has different animation preference. This research is expected to give direction for production and targeting of future animations.
