The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between automatic thoughts questionnaire ATQ and depression in light of gender, specialization, study level, achievement and hours of using internet on the ATQ. The sample of this study consisted of 329 (101 male and 228female). Two instruments were used to collect the data: the ATQ and the Beck depression inventory- second edition. (BDI–II). The results of the first question showed that the highest five means scores were for the items entitled “I wish I were a better person , Something has to change, I wish I were somewhere else, There must be something wrong with me and my life’s not going the way I want it to. The results of the second question showed that there was a positive significant statistical correlation between depressed students and students with 90 and above scores on ATQ r=0.81which is significant at. 0.001 level of significance also, there was a negative significant statistical correlation between non-depressed students and students with below 90 scores on ATQ. r=–0.78 which is significant at. 0.001 level of significance. Regarding to the differences between the means of ATQ, the results of the third question showed that there were significant differences between male and female students at the level 0.05 of significance in the favor of the female. Furthermore, there were significant differences between the levels of achievements variable in the favor of students with excellent cumulative average. The results of the third question also showed that there were no statistical significant differences at the level of 0.05 of significance related to other variables.
