The paper claims that there is no contradiction between approaches to text (and fiction in particular) taken by specialists in literature, linguistics, and methodology. I believe that results of interdisciplinary research of composition, syntax, and prosody (seen as the elements of sense building and clues for perception) can contribute to using fiction in teaching foreign languages. This is due to taking in consideration the relationship author – text – reader, on the one hand, and seeing reading as a productive skill, on the other hand.
