In this paper we examine the issue of workplace bullying and the academy’s response to it. Our intent is to illustrate how and why current representations of the problem function to address particular issues while not taking up others. Our findings illustrate that a methodology which links power, policy, and theory can help us to raise critical questions about policies and help to uncover the political nature of the issue of bullying within the larger context of shifts toward the increasing casualization of academic labour.
