The paper deals with terms related to intercultural communication, communication competences and language education of adults (andragogy) from the theoretical point of view. Since language is the carrier of culture and since the intercultural communication has been getting more important recently, the topic of language education is becoming one of the key areas of the development of human personality. From the practice point of view, the paper introduces the results of an enquiry about language education and availability of information sources that had been carried out among 73 students of the Chinese language in the Czech Republic and in Spain in 2014. There were six null hypotheses formulated and statistically tested. The results obtained have been compared to selected theoretical starting points, the statistically significant differences determined among the students in both countries have been explained and possibilities of focus for further research have been suggested in the conclusion. Due to the limited scope of the selection set, the conclusions of the enquiry can be considered a pre-research which allows to formulate further hypotheses.
