This study delved on the assessment of professional competencies of college teachers of higher education institutions in Tarlac Province. The research design used was descriptive survey method and the methodology included the use of instructional competencies checklist which was validated in terms of content, objectives, language, and form. Results revealed that college teachers have very high level of professional competence in the areas of designing and planning instruction, creating and maintaining a learning climate, implementing and managing instruction, assessing learning and communicating results, collaborating with stakeholders to meet and support learning programs and reviewing and evaluating students' performance. Gathered data further disclosed that college teachers in Tarlac Province have high level of competence in the areas of teaching field of specialization, demonstrating current professional knowledge, collaborating with stakeholders about student assessment. Significant relationship was noted between field of specialization, and years of teaching experience of the college teachers with their instructional competence.
