This research aims to study the Islamic education in terms of its applications and problems in public schools in the southern Thailand region. Data were collected from various sources, including books, theses and related scientific networks. The researchers concluded that minority Muslims in southern Thailand enjoy religious and education freedom. Government schools have been implementing Islamic educational values in southern Thailand since 2551 (Buddhist Calendar) or about 40 years ago. These government schools saw to it that all schools in the southern region develop and promote Islamic education, inculcate Islamic moral values and act in accordance with Islamic religion teachings. Islamic studies in public schools implement three curricula: 1. Hourly System Curriculum 2. Dual Educational System Curriculum 3. Intensive System Curriculum. There are - through the application of these curricula - some problems and obstacles as follows: 1) not taking into account individual differences among students. 2) Lack of compatibility among the curricula and lack of qualified educators with teaching skills 3) Lack of educational tools and appropriate place of study such as classrooms and suitable environments, added to minimum societal interest in participating in educational activities. Proposed solutions: to analyze these problems, it is incumbent on officials to pay fully attention to have workshops for teachers about teaching methods, plus other workshops aimed at teaching Islamic educational values; strive to streamline parent - school efforts and other social institutions, and synergize them in one direction that serves the development of students' moral values and work to unify the views and concepts between teachers and other social groups that are relevant to the educational values and moral education.
