The main thrust of this research paper will be to strategically analyse the history and status of export performance in Oman compared with Zimbabwe. Other issues to be investigated would be:- market gaps, strategic fit, R & D, technology, government policy, trade agreements, production, HRM development, Omanisation/Indegnisation or localization of skills, English Language challenges, TQM, supply chain, logistics, distribution, documentation management, synergies, export clusters, culture, markets, competitors, government departments, trade agreements, TPOs and trade related institutions. The objective of this research is discover key impediments to maximizing export performance and gives policy makers critical facts to grow the export sector and create jobs and prosperity. The main reasons giving rise to this investigation are the obvious fact that the Oman GDP is mainly dependent on oil revenues and oil based exports and oil reserves will be running out in 2022. Therefore diversifying the economy and income sources and increasing exports in other product lines is becoming the more important to avoid serious economic problems. Zimbabwe is a 3rd world country and is exporting at about one third of its real export potential due to sanctions, political polarization and international isolation. The key models to be used in this research are:- National Export Policies and Strategies, Trade Promotion Organisations; Exports and Science/Technology Education, National Branding and National Supply Chain Systems development. The survey method was used to collect data using questionnaires as well as the case study method and face to face interviews.
