The insertion of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) in the Mexican educational environments, especially in English Foreign Language (EFL) has been slowly increased; Carroll (2011) mentions that the main factors are due to digital divide, digital literacy, and lack of investment in education. On the other hand, it is not easy to change the old traditional paradigm and go beyond of our classroom and simple homework. Students are changing; they are living in a digital world where information is available through Internet and electronic devices. However, technology is not a new issue in EFL; in fact, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) has been providing educational tools since 1970s, the use of computers became popular in the 80s and 90s; likewise, cd-roms were available to produce drills in order to help students to practice their language skills. Nonetheless, some teachers don’t know about web tools, or sometimes don’t have enough training to face up this new paradigm. Prensky. (2001) wrote an article about students’ changes, he classified the new generation like digital natives. According to him, students are in a new process where information and Internet are involving them with social media, social networking, and modifying their learning process. In this way, it would be interesting to do a research about how technology is changing the educational process or beliefs on the topic. For this reason and taking into account previous research done, our academic work aims to identify and study 3 mainly objectives 1) what are the student’s beliefs about the use of technology in EFL? 2) What kind of web tools do they use to study EFL? 3) How do they combine classroom activities with ICT? The specific group involved in this research will be students from the University of Quintana Roo, Cozumel and Chetumal campus. The results of this project will contribute to an analysis of our teaching process, knowledge about the student’s beliefs, information to design better learning strategies with the use of technology to impact their language skills, and digital literacy. Finally, this research will be useful for further studies and be part of analysis in different context.
